NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME

Overview:

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. Established in 1969, NSS aims to nurture the personality and character of student youth through voluntary community service. At our college, the NSS unit is a dynamic platform fostering social responsibility and community engagement among students, serving as a cornerstone for leadership and service development. Established in the year 2021, it has been actively promoting these values since its inception.

Types of Activities

  1. Regular Activities (120 hours/year; 240 hours for 2 years):
    • General Orientation and NSS Day Celebrations (20 hours)
    • Career Guidance by Experts and Campus Work (30 hours)
    • Skill Development (e.g., first aid, disaster management, leadership, HIV/AIDS awareness) (26 hours)
    • Community Development Projects (e.g., surveys, tree plantation, health initiatives, sanitation, road safety, women empowerment) (44 hours)
  2. Special Camping Programme:
    • A 7-day camp organized in adopted villages, based on a specified theme provided by the Government of India.
    • Conducted for second-year NSS volunteers and held in the same village for at least three consecutive years.
