Definition of Ragging

Ragging refers to any form of inappropriate, disruptive, or unruly behaviour that causes or is likely to cause physical or psychological distress, fear, humiliation, shame, or discomfort to a student. Such behaviour may be directed towards a junior student, fresher, or even a fellow classmate and is considered a serious violation of discipline.

Ragging includes, but is not limited to:

  • Teasing, mocking, abusing, threatening, or using offensive language against a student.
  • Playing practical jokes that hurt, embarrass, or humiliate a student.
  • Verbal or physical abuse of any kind.
  • Forcing a student to perform any task or activity that he or she would not voluntarily undertake.
  • Any behaviour that creates fear, distress, humiliation, or emotional harm.

Anti-Ragging Policy

The institution strictly prohibits ragging in all forms, including within the campus, hostels, college premises, and online platforms. Ragging is a punishable offence and will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

The institution follows a zero-tolerance policy towards ragging. Any student found guilty of engaging in or encouraging ragging will face strict disciplinary action and may be handed over to the police for legal proceedings, as per the law in force and UGC regulations.

All students are strongly advised to maintain respectful conduct and refrain from participating in or encouraging any form of ragging. The institution encourages students to uphold dignity, mutual respect, and understanding, thereby creating a safe, friendly, and inclusive campus environment.
