Introduction

The Bosco Outreach Program for January 2026 was conducted through active participation in the Grama Sabha Meeting held at Reddiyur Panchayat on 26 January 2026. The program aimed to provide students with first-hand exposure to grassroots democracy and community-level governance. Through direct interaction with local residents and Panchayat representatives, the students gained practical insights into rural social issues and public administration.

Objectives

  • To create awareness among students about the functioning of Grama Sabha meetings and Panchayat governance.
  • To understand and discuss key social and civic issues faced by rural communities.
  • To encourage student participation in community engagement and social responsibility.
  • To promote dialogue between students and local people on development-oriented issues.

Participants

Students of the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies actively participated in the Grama Sabha meeting along with local residents, Panchayat leaders, and officials of Reddiyur Panchayat.

Social Issues Discussed

During the Grama Sabha meeting, the students observed the proceedings and interacted with the local community. They took part in discussions on various social and developmental issues affecting the Panchayat. The major issues discussed included:

  • Water-related issues: Availability of drinking water, irregular water supply, and the need for sustainable water management.
  • Water tank construction: The necessity for constructing additional water storage tanks to meet the growing needs of the village.
  • Healthcare initiatives: Awareness about free cancer check-up facilities available in government hospitals and the importance of early diagnosis.
  • Road construction: Concerns regarding damaged and underdeveloped roads and the demand for improved road infrastructure.
  • Street lighting: Installation and maintenance of street lights to ensure safety and security during night hours.

The students listened to the grievances of the villagers, exchanged views, and helped in highlighting the importance of these issues for overall rural development.

The Bosco Outreach Program Jan 2026 - Grama Sabha Meeting at Reddiyur Panchayat was a meaningful and enriching experience for the students of the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies.
