Introduction

The Inter-Division Chess Tournament (Men & Women) for the academic year 2025–2026 was successfully conducted under the auspices of Thiruvalluvar University and hosted by Don Bosco College, Yelagiri Hills.

Inaugural Ceremony

The programme commenced at 9:30 a.m. with the NCC cadets presenting a Guard of Honour and escorting the dignitaries to the venue.

The event began with an inaugural prayer by the Sports Club members.

Dr. Ravi, Principal of Don Bosco College, delivered the Welcome Address and felicitated the Chief Guest, Dr. Rajasekar, along with Dr. Senthil Kumar, Director of Physical Education, Thiruvalluvar University.

The Chief Guest addressed the gathering, motivated the players, and officially declared the tournament open.

Mr. Anand, the Arbiter, explained the rules and regulations of the tournament, which followed the Rapid method. Mr. Sivanandam and Mr. Ramkumar, Physical Director, gave further instructions to the participants before the commencement of matches.

Results

Men’s Category – Overall Winners

  • First Place: Shanmuga Arts and Science College
  • Second Place: KKG Arts College
  • Third Place: Adhiparasakthi Arts College

Women’s Category – Overall Winners

  • First Place: Marudhar Kesari Jain College for Women
  • Second Place: Islamiah College Women’s College
  • Third Place: Don Bosco College

The top six ranked players in both categories were selected to represent Thiruvalluvar University in the forthcoming South Indian Inter-University Chess Tournament.

Prize Distribution

At the end of the tournament, a valedictory and prize distribution ceremony was conducted.

🏅 Trophies and medals were awarded to the winning teams and individual top performers in both categories.

The dignitaries congratulated the winners and appreciated all participants for their competitive spirit and discipline throughout the event.

Conclusion

The tournament was conducted successfully in a disciplined and sportsmanlike manner. Faculty members, officials, and participants appreciated the arrangements made by the host institution.

The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. Ramkumar, Physical Director, Don Bosco College, who thanked the Chief Guest, university officials, participating colleges, organizing committee members, arbiters, and players for making the event a grand success.
