Report on Visit to Residential Care Home for Youth and Children Living with HIV (CLHIV)

1. Introduction

To promote social responsibility and create awareness about HIV/AIDS among students, the Red Ribbon Club of Don Bosco College (Co-Ed), Yelagiri Hills organized a visit to the Residential Care Home for Youth and Children Living with HIV (CLHIV) at Madhavaram, Chennai.

The visit was conducted on 13th February 2026 with the objective of developing empathy among students, spreading awareness about HIV, and supporting children living with HIV through meaningful interaction and welfare activities. The programme was organized under the guidance of the Red Ribbon Club.

2. Purpose of the Visit

The visit was organized to:

  • Create awareness about HIV and reduce social stigma
     
  • Promote humanitarian values and social responsibility among students
     
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to children living with HIV
     
  • Utilize Red Ribbon Club funds for welfare activities
     
  • Conduct awareness interaction, games, and motivational sessions
     
  • Encourage youth participation in social health initiatives
     
  • Provide practical exposure to students regarding community service

4. Description of the Visit

The visit commenced with the arrival of students and staff members at the Residential Care Home. The team was warmly welcomed by the management and caretakers of the home.

Students interacted with the children and youth residing in the home and conducted awareness sessions about positive living, self-confidence, and social inclusion. Various recreational activities and games were organized to create a friendly and joyful environment for the children.

The Red Ribbon Club members also provided welfare support using club funds. The activities were conducted in a respectful and disciplined manner under faculty supervision. The visit created a meaningful bonding experience between students and children.
